Overview
Visuaro adds a product designer to WooCommerce. Shoppers personalise a product in the browser: they add text, upload photos and logos, pick shapes, clipart and stickers, and see the result on a photo of the product in the colour they choose. When the order is paid, you get print-ready files at the right size and resolution.
This is the Pro edition. It is a standalone plugin, so you install it instead of the free edition. On top of the free features (the designer, templates and the mockup library, PDF, SVG and PNG print files, print checks, design surcharges, the production queue and the "Print files ready" email), Pro adds AI image tools, co-editing with comments and share links, ICC colour profiles with soft proofing, pricing rules, DTF gang sheets, underbase and spot colour separations, embroidery and cutter files, print vendor dispatch, design edits after ordering, cloud storage, webhooks and analytics.
Visuaro is for WooCommerce stores that sell personalised or print-on-demand products, for example apparel, mugs, posters, stickers, signs or engraved items.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.4 or later (tested up to 7.1)
- PHP 7.4 or later
- WooCommerce 8.5 or later, installed and active
Installation
Visuaro Pro needs WooCommerce 8.5 or newer, so install and activate WooCommerce first. Pro is a standalone plugin: you do not need the free edition. If Visuaro (free) is active, Pro switches it off automatically when you activate Pro, and every design, template, order and setting carries over.
Log in to your ProPluginsLab account and open My Account > Downloads.
Download the Visuaro - Product Designer for WooCommerce Pro zip file.
In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
Choose the zip file and click Install Now.
Click Activate Plugin. A new Visuaro menu appears in the admin sidebar.
Open Visuaro > Help and docs for a guided tour of every feature.
License and automatic updates
Visuaro works fully as soon as it is activated. The license key turns on automatic updates, so new versions arrive in WordPress like any other plugin update. Pro features never depend on it.
Activate your license
Find your license key in My Account on propluginslab.io, in the license keys section. It is also in your order confirmation email.
In WordPress, open Visuaro > License. When two or more ProPluginsLab plugins or add-ons are active on the site, WooCommerce > Licenses also appears and lists all of them in one place.
Paste the key into the Visuaro - Product Designer for WooCommerce Pro row and click Activate. The status changes to Active and automatic updates are on.
Receive updates automatically
Once the license is active, new versions of Visuaro show up under Dashboard > Updates and on the Plugins screen. Click Update now, or click Enable auto-updates in the Visuaro row on the Plugins screen and WordPress installs every future release for you.
Good to know
- Keys are checked once a day in the background, so your site never waits for the license server. If the server is briefly unreachable, the plugin keeps its last known status.
- An expired key or a key that is not accepted only stops updates. Visuaro keeps working. After renewing, click Check now in its row.
- Moving to a new domain: click Deactivate on the old site first, then activate the key on the new one. The status shows Site address changed, checking until the new address is confirmed.
- On the command line:
wp ppl-license list,wp ppl-license activate <plugin> <key>,wp ppl-license checkandwp ppl-license deactivate <plugin>.
Quick start
- Create a product template
Go to Visuaro > Templates. Click New template from my photos, pick the product type, upload a photo of each side (front, back and so on) and add the colours shoppers may choose. If you want to try the designer before taking your own photos, click Install bundled mockups instead.
- Draw the print areas
In the template editor, drag the print area box onto the printable part of the photo and enter its real width and height in millimetres. Click Save.
- Enable the designer on a product
Edit a WooCommerce product, open its Designer tab in the Product data box, tick Enable designer and choose your template. Update the product.
- Try it on the product page
View the product. The Customize button opens the designer. Add some text or an image, then click Add to cart.
- Review your settings
Open Visuaro > Settings and check the tabs, especially Print output (which files are made and when), Pricing (customisation charges) and Uploads and privacy. Every option has a Learn more link.
- Collect your print files
When an order reaches a status you selected under Print output (Processing and Completed by default), the print files appear in Visuaro > Production queue and on the order item, and the store receives the Print files ready email.
#Dashboard
Visuaro > Dashboard gives you an overview of the last 30 days and a short checklist.
- The counters at the top show Editor opens, Designs saved, Added to cart (with the share of opens), Print check blocks, Awaiting print files and Ready for production.
- Getting started lists the four setup steps (templates, the product Designer tab, pricing rules and fonts) with links to each screen, plus how many products have the designer enabled and how many mockup templates are installed.
- Background jobs shows recent jobs such as print file generation, with their Type, Status, Attempts and Created date.
The opens, saves and add to cart counts come from the Designer statistics option under Visuaro > Settings > General.
#Templates and print areas
A template is the product as shoppers see it: one photo per view, the colours they may pick, and one or more print areas in real millimetres. Many products can share one template. You manage templates under Visuaro > Templates.
At the top of the screen you can:
- Click New template from my photos to build a template from your own product photos.
- Click Install bundled mockups to add the bundled library (t-shirt, hoodie, mug, tote, poster and more).
- Click Import ZIP to import a template package.
Each template card shows its name, category, number of views and whether it is bundled, with Edit, Duplicate and Delete buttons.
What a template contains
- Product type: a starting point with views and print areas already set up (for example t-shirt front and back, mug wrap or phone case). You can change everything afterwards.
- Views: each side of the product (Front, Back, Sleeve and so on), each with its own photo and print areas. Add more with + Add view.
- Product photo: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF or SVG. A sharp photo at least 1500 pixels wide on a plain background gives the best recolouring.
- Colour mask: an optional white silhouette of the product. Without it, the designer finds the product in the photo automatically when a shopper picks another colour. Detect garment builds the mask for you; check each colour on the product page afterwards.
- Shading and front overlays: optional images drawn over the design. Shading makes artwork follow folds; a front overlay hides artwork under a pocket or a handle.
- Colours customers can choose: each colour has a name and a value. The photo is recoloured live, keeping folds and shading.
- Print area: drag the box on the photo, then enter the true width and height in millimetres. If the box shape differs, a notice offers Fit box to size.
- Shape: rectangle, rounded, ellipse, polygon, curved band (for chest prints and mug wraps), free drawing or a pasted SVG path. Artwork is clipped to the shape in the designer and in every print file.
- Bleed: extra artwork beyond the edge that is trimmed away. 2 to 3 mm is typical for printed paper; use 0 for garments.
- Safe zone: the distance from the edge that important text should keep. It shows as a dashed line and is checked by the print check.
- Target DPI: the resolution of raster print files for this area, and the minimum the print check expects from images.
- Allowed print methods: optional. Leave all unticked to allow any method.
#Product Designer tab
Every WooCommerce product has a Designer tab in its Product data box. These options apply to that product only:
- Enable designer: shows the Customize button on this product.
- Mockup template: the template with the product photos, colours and print areas. Choose None to give shoppers a blank print area of the size you set below.
- Print method: how this product is printed. It sets the print check rules and output details. Leave it on the default to use Visuaro > Settings > Print output.
- Button text: overrides the global button label for this product.
- Blank print area: size, bleed, safe zone and DPI, used only when no template is selected (for example business cards or stickers).
- Customer tools: which tools shoppers get: text, image uploads, shapes, clipart and QR codes or barcodes. Lock template stops shoppers moving template elements, so they only fill in the editable parts.
- Max objects: the most elements a design may contain on this product.
- Pricing overrides: customisation charges for this product only. Leave a field blank to use the global value from Visuaro > Settings > Pricing.
#Pricing rules
Visuaro > Pricing rules adds conditional pricing on top of the global per object surcharges you set under Visuaro > Settings > Pricing.
Click Add rule to create a rule. Rules can use conditions on colours, area, layers, quantity and more, and apply fixed, per unit, per metric, percentage and setup fee actions. A rule can apply to all products, chosen products or categories.
The list shows each rule's Name, Scope, Priority and whether it is Active. Click a rule name to edit it, or Delete to remove it. Prices are always calculated on the server.
#Fonts
Visuaro > Fonts controls the extra fonts shoppers can use in the designer. Until you add your own, the designer offers the system fonts listed under Visuaro > Settings > Fonts.
Add Google Fonts
Type the family names separated by commas (for example Montserrat, Pacifico), tick the weights you need (300 to 900) and Italics if you want them, then click Add fonts. The font files are downloaded once and served from your site, so visitors never contact Google, and print files embed the exact typeface. Google Fonts are open source (SIL Open Font License) and may be used in printed products.
Upload a font
Choose a font file, check the Family name (auto detected), pick the weight and style (Normal or Italic) and click Upload.
- TTF and OTF files work in the designer and in print files.
- WOFF and WOFF2 work in the designer only.
- Make sure the font licence allows embedding in print files.
The table lists each font's Family, Weight, Style, Files and License.
#Color profiles
Visuaro > Color profiles is where you upload ICC profiles, for example the CMYK output profile your printer or paper vendor provides.
To add a profile:
- Under Upload an ICC profile, click Choose File and pick the profile.
- Optionally enter a name.
- Set the Ink limit %.
- Tick the print methods the profile applies to (for example Direct to Garment (DTG), Sublimation or Wide Format).
- Click Upload.
PDF fills are converted through the profile, the designer can soft proof against it, and the print check warns about colours outside its gamut and ink over the limit. Pro also gives CMYK PDF/X-4 output, ink readouts and gamut warnings with one click fixes.
Without a profile, PDFs are written in RGB and the print check estimates ink from a generic conversion.
#Production queue
Visuaro > Production queue lists the designed order items and their print files. Filter the list by All, Pending, Ready, Partial, In production, Completed, On hold, Failed or Cancelled. The table shows Order, Customer, Status and Print files.
How print files are made
- When an order reaches a status listed under Visuaro > Settings > Print output (Processing and Completed by default), Visuaro makes the print files in the background.
- Files are listed here and in the Visuaro panel under each order item. Download links are signed and only work for staff who can view orders.
- The store receives the Print files ready email with secure links.
- To make files by hand, for example for an on hold order, tick several rows and click Generate print files for selected (or use Generate or Regenerate on a row).
- Set each row's production status (Pending, Ready, In production, Completed, On hold, Cancelled) to track work. Changes are recorded in the audit log.
Each file is made at the print area's true size: PDF with live text and embedded fonts, SVG for vector work and a transparent PNG at the target DPI. Direct to Film files are mirrored automatically.
DTF gang sheets
To nest many orders on film at real size and DPI, select the rows, set Film width mm, Max length mm and Gap mm, tick Rotate prints to save film if you want rotation, and click Build DTF gang sheet from selected.
You can also send orders to a print vendor from the production queue (see Vendors).
#Vendors
Visuaro > Vendors (titled Fulfilment vendors) holds the print vendors you send orders to from the production queue. Supported services are Printful, Printify, Gelato, Prodigi, an SFTP folder, email or any webhook.
Click Add vendor to set one up. The list shows each vendor's Name, Service and whether it is Active. Click a name to edit it or Delete to remove it.
When you send an order, Visuaro passes the order items, shipping address and print file links to the vendor.
#Settings: General, Print output and Pricing
Visuaro > Settings has ten tabs. Change the options on a tab and click Save settings. Every option has a Learn more link to its explanation in Help and docs.
General
How the designer appears on product pages and how designs are kept: the Button text and Button position of the button that opens the designer, the Editor mode (Modal overlay, Full page (strict CSP) or Inline on the product page), the Editor theme and Accent colour, whether shoppers who are not logged in can design and order (Guest designs), Autosave timing, Versions per design, a small "Powered by Visuaro" note (Branding) and Designer statistics.
Print output
Which print files are made for each order and when. Set the Default DPI for new print areas and the Default print method for products that do not choose one in their Designer tab. Under Print file formats, tick the files made for every printed view: PDF, SVG and PNG, plus EPS and DXF for cutters, lasers and CNC, and DST, PES, EXP and JEF for embroidery machines. Under Generate when the order becomes, tick the order statuses that start print file generation. Print check blocks add to cart while a design has blocking print problems, and the last option attaches the files to the Print files ready email instead of secure download links.
Pricing
Customisation charges added to the product price: a Customisation fee per unit, and charges per print area, text, image and uploaded file, each with a free allowance, plus a charge Per square centimetre of artwork. A product can set its own values in its Designer tab, and Visuaro > Pricing rules adds conditional pricing on top.
#Settings: Uploads and privacy, Fonts and Advanced
Uploads and privacy
What shoppers may upload and how long data is kept. Set the Maximum upload size in MB and Uploads per hour per visitor. Under Allowed image types, tick the formats shoppers may upload; types are checked by file content, never by name. Remove photo metadata strips EXIF, GPS location, XMP and IPTC data from uploads, and Keep colour profiles keeps the embedded ICC profile when metadata is removed. Abandoned drafts and Audit log set how many days unsaved drafts and the admin audit log are kept.
Designs, uploads and print files are stored in wp-content/uploads/visuaro unless you choose cloud storage. Private files are never linked directly: they are served through signed, expiring links after a permission check. SVG uploads are rebuilt from a strict allow list. Designs are included in the WordPress personal data export and erasure tools (Tools > Export Personal Data and Tools > Erase Personal Data).
Fonts
System fonts is a comma separated list of fonts shown using the shopper's device fonts. They print with a fallback unless you upload the same family. Google Fonts takes comma separated families that are downloaded to your site when you save. You can also add and upload fonts under Visuaro > Fonts.
Advanced
Performance, caching, access and removal: the Canvas renderer used by the designer (Automatic, WebGPU, WebGL2 or Canvas 2D only), Page cache exclusions to keep personal designer pages out of page caches, an Admin IP allow list for Visuaro admin screens, and Remove data on uninstall, which deletes all Visuaro tables, settings and files when the plugin is deleted.
#Settings: AI tools
The AI tools tab controls the image and text tools in the designer's AI panel. Tick AI tools to show the panel.
Background removal, upscaling, vectorizing and palette extraction can run on your own server with no keys. Image generation and copywriting use OpenAI, Anthropic, Stability AI or Replicate, so you enter the key for the service you want:
- OpenAI API key and OpenAI model: used for image generation and copywriting.
- Anthropic API key and Anthropic model: used for copywriting suggestions.
- Stability AI key: used for image generation, background removal and upscaling when chosen.
- Replicate token: used for image models hosted on Replicate when chosen.
Leave a model field empty to use the default model. For each tool (Background removal provider, Upscaling provider, Vectorize provider, Image generation provider and Copywriting provider) choose Automatic, This server (no key) or a specific service.
When a shopper uses an AI tool that runs on an outside service, the prompt or image submitted in the AI panel is sent to that provider.
#Settings: Cloud storage
The Cloud storage tab sets where uploads, previews and print files are kept.
- Choose a Storage location: This site (uploads folder), Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage.
- Enter the Bucket or container name (Azure: container).
- Enter the Region, for example
us-east-1. Useautofor R2. - Enter the Endpoint. Leave it empty for Amazon S3; R2, Google and MinIO need their endpoint.
- Enter the Access key or account (Azure: storage account name) and the Secret key. The secret is encrypted before it is stored and never shown again.
- Optionally add a Public base URL, a CDN or custom domain for public previews and mockups.
- Click Save settings.
New files are written to the chosen storage. Existing files stay where they are.
#Settings: Integrations
The Integrations tab covers webhooks, analytics and CDN purging.
- Webhooks: enter an endpoint URL and a signing secret, then tick the events to send:
visuaro.design.saved,visuaro.order_design.ready,visuaro.print_file.generatedandvisuaro.preflight.failed. Visuaro sends a signed JSON POST (HMAC SHA-256) to the URL when the selected events happen. Clear a URL to remove it. - Tracking bridge forwards designer events to Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel if they are already on the site.
- Cloudflare zone ID and Cloudflare API token purge template mockups from Cloudflare when the Visuaro cache is cleared. The token needs the Zone, Cache Purge permission.
#Status and tools
Visuaro > Status and tools helps you check your server and fix problems.
- Environment checks what Visuaro relies on: PHP, Imagick, GD, libsodium (secrets encrypted at rest), ZipArchive (template import), memory limit, persistent object cache, Action Scheduler (background jobs), database schema, the editor bundle, the queue backend and the plugin version. A warning sign marks anything to look at.
- Tools has buttons to Install bundled mockup library, Run database migrations, Flush Visuaro cache, Retry failed jobs (the count of failed jobs is shown in brackets) and Rotate signing secret.
- The same tasks are available from WP-CLI:
wp visuaro doctor, migrate, cache flush, template install, render <design-uuid>andpurge. Pro also addswp visuaro gangsheetandwp visuaro variants. - Recent jobs lists background jobs with their ID, Type, Status, Attempts, Error and Created date.
- Audit log records admin actions with When, Who, Action, Subject and IP. How long entries are kept is set under Settings > Uploads and privacy.
#Help and docs
Visuaro > Help and docs is the built in manual. Use Search the documentation or the table of contents to jump to a topic: getting started, templates and print areas, the product Designer tab, the designer, orders and production, fonts, privacy, external services, each Pro feature, troubleshooting, developers and a full settings reference. The Learn more links on the settings tabs open the matching entry here.
#Print files ready email
Visuaro adds a store email under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails > Visuaro: print files ready. It is sent to the store when the print files of a designed order item have been generated, with secure download links. The download links work for seven days, and you can always download the files again from Visuaro > Production queue.
You can set the Recipient(s) (comma separated), turn the email on or off, and change the Subject, Email heading, Additional content, Email type, Cc(s) and Bcc(s). The Email preview shows the result, and Send a test email sends you a copy.
To attach the files to this email instead of sending links, tick Attach files to the "Print files ready" email under Visuaro > Settings > Print output.

On your site
On a product with the designer enabled, shoppers see a button that opens the designer. Its label comes from Button text (or the product's own override), and it sits before or after Add to cart depending on Button position. The designer opens as a modal overlay, a full page or inline on the product page, depending on Editor mode. A page can also show the designer behind a Start designing button.
The designer is a full workspace that works with mouse, touch and keyboard on desktop, tablet and phone:
- The top bar has the File, Edit, Object, Type, Select, View, Window and Help menus, Undo and Redo, the print check issue count, the live price, Save, Share and Add to cart.
- A toolbar gives quick access to Text, Upload image, Shapes and Templates. The tool strip on the left has Move, Hand, Zoom, Shape, Pen, Brush, Eyedropper, Uploads, Text styles, Elements, Stickers, QR code and the foreground and background colours.
- Tabs above the canvas switch between the product's views (for example front and back), next to the product colour swatches. The canvas has rulers in millimetres.
- The right panel has Properties (print area size, resolution, print method and safe zone, plus the product colour), Print check, AI and Comments, then Layers and History (with blend mode and opacity) and a colour picker.
- A Start your design card offers Text, Upload image, Templates and Shapes as starting points. Shoppers can also drop or paste images anywhere on the canvas.
Shoppers can style text (fonts, sizes, weights, colours, outlines, shadows, letter spacing, alignment and curved text), crop and filter images (with a warning when an image is too small to print sharply), add shapes, stickers, clipart, QR codes and Code 128 barcodes, and group, lock, hide and reorder layers. The price updates live with the customisation charges, and the design is autosaved. Saved designs appear under My account, and shoppers can edit a design from the cart.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the free edition of Visuaro as well?
No. Pro is a standalone plugin, so install it instead of the free edition. If Visuaro (free) is active, Pro switches it off automatically on activation and keeps every design, template, order and setting.
Which print files does Visuaro make?
You choose under Visuaro > Settings > Print output. PDF (vector with live text and embedded fonts), SVG and transparent PNG are available, plus EPS and DXF for cutters, lasers and CNC, and DST, PES, EXP and JEF for embroidery machines. Each file is made at the print area's true size.
When are print files created?
Automatically, when an order reaches one of the statuses ticked under Generate when the order becomes (Processing and Completed by default). You can also select orders in Visuaro > Production queue and click Generate print files for selected.
Can shoppers design without an account?
Yes, when Guest designs is ticked under Visuaro > Settings > General. It lets shoppers who are not logged in design and order.
Can customers change their design after ordering?
Yes. Set Customer edit window under Visuaro > Settings > Sharing and edits to the number of hours customers may still change their design from the order page. Edits are possible until production starts. Enter 0 to switch it off.
Do the AI tools need an API key?
Not all of them. Background removal, upscaling, vectorizing and palette extraction can run on your own server with no keys. Image generation and copywriting need a key for OpenAI, Anthropic, Stability AI or Replicate, entered under Visuaro > Settings > AI tools.
Where are designs and print files stored?
By default in wp-content/uploads/visuaro, served through signed, expiring links after a permission check. Under Visuaro > Settings > Cloud storage you can switch to Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage. New files go to the chosen storage; existing files stay where they are.
Do Google Fonts load from Google for my visitors?
No. Fonts you add under Visuaro > Fonts are downloaded once and served from your site, so visitors never contact Google, and print files embed the exact typeface.
Troubleshooting
- The plugin does not activate or the Visuaro menu is missing.
Visuaro needs WooCommerce 8.5 or newer, WordPress 6.4 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Install and activate WooCommerce first, then activate Visuaro again.
- The Customize button does not appear on a product page.
Edit the product, open its Designer tab, tick Enable designer and choose a Mockup template (or set a blank print area). Update the product and reload the product page.
- Shoppers cannot add their design to the cart.
When Print check is ticked under Visuaro > Settings > Print output, add to cart is blocked while a design has blocking print problems. Ask the shopper to open the Print check panel in the designer and fix the listed issues, for example an image that is too small to print sharply.
- Print files were not generated for an order.
Check that the order's status is ticked under Generate when the order becomes in Visuaro > Settings > Print output. To make the files now, select the order in Visuaro > Production queue and click Generate print files for selected. If a background job failed, open Visuaro > Status and tools and click Retry failed jobs, and check the Environment table for warnings.
- The designer shows stale or another shopper's content.
Make sure Page cache exclusions is ticked under Visuaro > Settings > Advanced so personal designer pages stay out of page caches. Then clear your page cache. You can also click Flush Visuaro cache under Visuaro > Status and tools.
- Text or colours in the PDF print files are not what you expected.
System fonts print with a fallback unless you upload the same family, so upload TTF or OTF files under Visuaro > Fonts (WOFF and WOFF2 work in the designer only). Without an ICC profile, PDFs are written in RGB; upload your printer's profile under Visuaro > Color profiles and assign it to the right print methods.
